About
During its more than 750 years history, the Lange Voorhout in the centre of the Hague, close the Parliament, has been a centre for politics, power and influence. Its residents included members of the Royal Family, magistrates, politicians and diplomatic service.
The Stratagem Group’s headquarters are located at the Lange Voorhout 72. Dirk Clickert was the first tenant of this house, registered in 1542. While most of the later tennants were craftsman, in the long list of residents, also famous people show up, amongst them Jhr Archibald Hope, who used to be alderman of the city of Amsterdam in the 19th century, and Jhr Abraham Lopez Suasso, banker in Amsterdam. From 1839 – 1875, the house was owned by Willem Frederik Hendrik, Prince of the Netherlands, also known as Hendrik de Zeevaarder (more information: Maritime Museum of Rotterdam). After 1875, the house owner was not specifically mentioned than ‘Royal Family’; between 1875 and 1935 several members of the royal staff resided at number 72.
The house next door is now the Escher Museum, but was owned by the Royal family from 1896 – 1990. Queen Juliana used it as her working palace. The annual ‘balcony scene’ after the reading of the Queen’s Speech on the third Tuesday of September took place here. Still, at this day, from our offices you have a beautiful view on the ‘Prinsjesdag’ parade, and influential visitors from all over the world.
